A huge thanks to the 100,000 of you who voted in the poll which saw New York narrowly beat our home town of London by just 4% (34% to 30%).

The poll results don’t confirm where RuneFest 2012 will be held as there are a lot of factors and feedback to take into consideration, but it’s vital information that’s going to really help us plan out the best RuneFest 2012 ever.

Now it’s time for the RuneFest team to lock ourselves away and review and start planning what RuneFest 2012 is going to look like and, of course, where it’s going to be held. You can expect to hear more from us in the new year!

Our crack team of RuneFest organisers are now embedded deep in the studio working around the clock dreaming up our biggest and best RuneFest ever.

Since RuneFest 2011, we’ve been inundated with questions about RuneFest 2012 and the most popular question by far has been: “Where will it be?”. We’ve not answered that question because, well, there are just so many major factors to consider that we don’t actually know yet. One such factor is, of course, what you think.

So, which city do you think should host RuneFest 2012?

- New York

- Los Angeles

- Chicago

- London

Today we launch a quick poll for you to tell us your preferred city. We can’t guarantee that the most popular city will host Runefest 2012, but we can promise you that your opinion is an essential part of that decision making process.

The poll can be found on the main page of Runescape.com and is open for the next two weeks. That should give you just enough time to rally support for your chosen host city.

We’re not quite done yet, though, as we’d like to say a few words of thanks and announce RuneFest 2011’s competition winners.

Although the word is bandied around a lot, ‘epic’ does seem like a very appropriate word to use when describing the weekend. Whether you were there in person, there in spirit or in game as part of one of the many events, we have you to thank for making the weekend as awesome as it was. The commitment made by you all throughout the event really blew us away and contributed massively to making it an amazing and humbling experience for us all here at Jagex. Whether those efforts involved saving your hard earned cash for your tickets, blagging days off work to give you more time to create your RuneFest costume, travelling half way around the world to get to London or taking the time to enter one of the many competitions we held, we hugely appreciate your commitment and thank you for it.

We’d also like to thank you for all the kind words you’ve sent us since RuneFest, for the video links you’ve sent us and for the photos you took and then shared with us. They really mean a lot and serve as a wonderful reminder that you’re not just players on the other end of a computer but in many cases, are people that we are now pleased to count among our friends.

The giant cake, which was a metre squared and stood a metre tall and weighted over 80 lbs, depicted a floating Citadel incorporating various features of the RuneScape world. This included Castle Wars, a Clan Camp and Citadel Keep, the Poison Arrow Pub, the Blue Fairy house, and most notably, Daemonheim’s Castle with actual Dungeoneering rooms recessed into the earth at the base of the cake.

The castle cake was further enhanced with custom, dramatic LED lighting and real fog from a hidden, food safe fog machine. The surrounding environment was also inhabited by ten, highly detailed characters from the game, including the popular NPC’s including Blasidar, Grim Reaper, and the Fairy Queen.

Charm City Cakes, the bakery commissioned to make the cake, was founded in 2000 by Chef Duff Goldman and is based in Baltimore, Maryland. The company was propelled into the limelight when it starred in the American reality television show, Ace of Cakes which aired for ten seasons between 2006 and 2011. During the bakery’s long history, Charm City Cakes has worked on a number of high profile projects including a Hogwarts cake for the premier of the 5th instalment of the Harry Potter films and a commemorative cake for the 100th episode of Lost.
