This week’s backstage blog is via the magic of video! A couple of weeks ago SJ and I went to London to check out the venue and meet up with some of the people helping us put the event together.
The video starts off with the trip to the venue, whips around the top floor of the venue before introducing the lovely Lisa and Scott. They’ve loads of experience of event management and were a huge help in putting together last year’s RuneFest. Being the stars they are, we of course wanted to get them involved this year again. You then see a little bit of Rich, who’s a demon when it comes to all things tech. So when you see multi screens showing 5 v 5 battles, dazzling stage sets and dozens of PCs hooked up ready to go, it’s Rich you can thank for that.
After hitting up the venue we retired for lunch to chat about the meetings we’d had that morning, then we headed over to a party at the Tower of London to play giant Jenga and investigate some catering options for RuneFest. It’s a tough job, but someone’s got to do it.
For a bit of background on the vid itself – it’s the first time I’ve had a crack at making a vid and the shaky camera work is thanks to my trusty ‘fruit based’ phone. I chopped it up on a ‘fruit based’ computer using free software and, to avoid any potential copyright issues, wrote a quick track to go with it. It’s a learning curve so hopefully by the time we reveal more I’ll have some improved filming skills, booked a studio session with one of the bands who’ll be appearing and be able to show you all how we are shaping up. =)
